About Me
Hello, my name is Madison Lemus, I am 21 and running my own freelance photography company. Currently, I specialize in weddings, I have been working in the wedding photography industry for close to 7 years now. Spending a good five of those years exclusively training as a second shooter for a well known Bay Area photographer. Currently, due to Covid19, I am newly based out of Phoenix, Arizona. I love working with people, I cherish hearing their stories and documenting unforgettable moments. My passion for working with people has led to such beautiful opportunities for me and without a doubt I love what I do. Being a photographer has allowed me to lean into the part of me that I like the most--being creative.
Regardless of being young in this industry, my experience and technical training has prepared me for this, and I am more than confident in my abilities. So, I would like to share more about my technical training, experience on the job, and projects and achievements in order to build trust and share my educational journey.
Starting in highschool, I completed a four year Photography and Digital Media course. On weekends I trained as a second shooter at wedding events for five years. During weekdays, I worked part-time as an advanced photo editor for another well known photography studio that services all of the Central Valley. As well as taking on any side gigs from connections at school such as; designing brochures and posters for graduation night, senior sessions, designing brochures, logos and photographing houses for real estate clients.
Next I attended the San Francisco Art Institute, majoring in Photography. There I trained on both DSLR and 35mm film cameras and took classes to learn developing and printing in the darkroom. In addition I have experience in screen printing and bookmaking. Some of my achievements include; showing work at the West Wall Gallery in SF, becoming head of the yearbook committee and training four other student photographers, being proficient in almost all Adobe Softwares, and collaborating with a local winery in Napa California to photograph products and help build a brand.
I am no doubt proud of my achievements, and want to continue to build connections and a strong women led business. Photography represents to me; the perfect outlet to be creative and stay true to the artist in me, connect with people on a human level, travel and experience new places, and it gives me the freedom to create my own schedule and build something for my future. Thank you for taking the time to read and get to know me.
I hope to work with you soon.
